One of the charities that is very close to our hearts here at LA Taxis is the Tiny Lives Trust, a charity that supports premature and sick babies in Newcastle.
Based in Ward 35 of the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI), the service has become a critical one for numerous families struggling with the heartbreaking situation of having sick newborn children.
It’s an incredibly difficult time for families, more so than ever given the ongoing situation.
With the current situation and the lock-down due to the Corona-virus pandemic, the effect that this was going to have on staff travelling to the hospital could have been devastating. Numerous staff at the Tiny Lives Trust were reliant on public transport and with the huge reduction in services, this meant that many staff were struggling to get into the wards.
Vulnerable premature and sick babies are still on the Unit and families continue to find themselves in a world they never expected to be in. As many people and businesses come to a halt, the team on the Neonatal Unit (Ward 35) at the RVI continues to carry out their amazing work.
LA Taxis have been involved with the Tiny Lives Trust for a number of years and we jumped at the opportunity to help out again.
That’s why we’re proud to announce that we will be offering free taxi services to medical staff working at the Tiny Lives ward as well as for families who want to visit their children who are at the hospital. This initiative will be open throughout the current lock-down.
We hope that this humble gesture will allow the Tiny Lives trust to continue providing this critically important service for sick children during these testing times.
